To the Barn House Community members. Our friends, family and golden hearts. It is with bittersweet emotion we announce the closure of The Barn House.

Friends, Family, Golden Hearts, (otherwise known as The Barn House Community members),

It is with bittersweet emotion that we announce the closure of The Barn House. Over the past five years, our organization has been privileged to serve the community in fostering the human-animal connection by providing rescue for animals, and resources for those that love them. The impact of our work remains close to our hearts, and the memories are rich in our minds.

This decision was not made lightly. It comes from a place of deep reflection and necessity, as our core team must now focus on personal circumstances beyond our control. We ask for your understanding and kindness as we navigate this transition, recognizing the sacrifices made by the individuals who have given so much to this mission.

Since Cassidy Porter launched The Barn House in May 2020 together we have achieved:

• Thousands of TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) surgeries

• Thousands of successful adoptions

• Hundreds of shelter alleviation efforts

• Dozens of senior companion placements

• Distribution of hundreds of thousands of pounds of pet food through our pantry

We are deeply grateful for the support and space that made these accomplishments possible.

Our journey is filled with stories of hope and connection:

• A cat inspiring her senior companion to continue chemotherapy

• The food pantry helping a family keep their beloved pets

• Rehoming cats for a military service member to a senior veteran

• Finding loving homes for puppies rescued from dire circumstances

These stories remind us of the vital need for continued support, both financial and emotional, within the rescue community. Challenges such as the veterinary shortage, housing crisis, and the overwhelming number of un-neutered pets and strays have created a perfect storm, one that even the largest shelters struggle to weather. Our closure is a necessary act of love, a recognition that we have given all we could over these five years.

We encourage everyone who has ever loved an animal to carry the #TogetherWeWill torch forward. Join forces, volunteer, foster, donate, and do whatever you can to support the animal rescue community.

After discussions with our primary donors, we will distribute our remaining funds to the following partner rescues, who have pledged to uphold our policy of accepting any animal previously adopted from us:

• BARK

• Living the Dream

• Four Paws Sun City

• Dogs – AZK9

We also encourage support for these dedicated small rescues:

• Chele’s Cat Care

• Ranilla’s Rescue (Carly’s Kitten Castle)

• List of additional cat rescues can be provided upon request

We remain steadfast in our commitment to the animals and people who rely on us. Our senior companions in the Catalyst Program will continue to receive care by Cassidy or Jennifer, and we will ensure that the remaining 15 cats and kittens in our care are fully vetted and placed in loving homes.

The funds we have remaining as a result of recent fundraising efforts will be allocated as follows:

• Payment of accounts payable (veterinary, insurance, food pantry transport and storage)

• Care for the 15 cats and kittens in foster care, including all necessary veterinary services

• Continued support for other nonprofit animal rescues who have been partners with us

Those donating monthly will notice those have already been discontinued.

Please be kind as this decision was very difficult. The need to focus on the needs of our families arose among the challenges we faced. If you wish to reach out, donate to the remaining 15 animals,  or offer moral support, please contact us at:
